Here's just a general FYI for everyone in the FC. While I believe that common sense rules the day, it has come to my attention that some people just don't 'get it.'
We're pretty laid back, but there are just some things I don't tolerate, and some things that should be avoided. Here is a pretty common sense-oriented list of things that will get you some attention (from me, and not in a good way):
Discussions involving race, religion, politics, or sexual orientation. I don't want to see this in FC chat, period. We're here to play a game, have fun, and work TOGETHER. Standing on your soapbox touting one point of view or openly bashing another for any of the above topics will get you a swift kick from the FC with a no-reinvite clause neatly attached to it. This also applies to conversation over Ventrilo. We're adults, but that doesn't mean everyone has the same comfort level as others, so respect everyone else by not even broaching the subject.
Jokes involving any of the aforementioned topics. If your conversation begins with a 'hey, want to hear a racist joke?' it's probably not acceptable. Heads out of asses, people.
Constant sexual innuendos or overuse of the term 'rape.' This one has been pissing a lot of people off, including myself. We have females in the FC, yes. That doesn't immediately make them 'fair game' because someone feels like their the alpha male of online gamers. If this trend continues, I'll just start kicking people, no warnings, no comments, just poof, you're gone. Better luck next guild.
Lastly, if someone asks you to stop, they're already putting themselves out on a limb to you. Getting cocky, rude, or dismissive usually leads you right up to me. Things don't go well here, especially if I say the exact same thing the other person just said. If you can listen to me, you can take their advice too. However, if people start using this as some sort of reverse victimization thing (and yes, I'm aware that this happens as well), I deal with these on a case-by-case basis, letting common sense and the intent of the conversation by my guide.
I would love it if everyone could get along, but I understand that that doesn't always happen. However, I can fix things and the further the problem attitudes want to push, the further I push back to correct our course as a FC. If you choose to 'test the waters' and see what the boundaries are, chances are you won't be here much longer. Every day I get tells from people complaining about a handful of people. Sometimes it's the same people, other times they're brand new. Some people have bad days, but I want to ensure that everyone feels like they have a home here. This isn't going to be ruined by a handful of people that want to be FC Chat Commandos or people who can't take no for an answer.
